Allowance

Once the examiner is satisfied that the application meets the requirements of the statute, he mails a Notice of Allowance, which invites the applicant to pay the issue and publication fees, and to correct any technical errors that may remain (or the examiner may make the corrections in an Examiner's Amendment). New drawings may be required at this time. The deadline for paying the issue fee and filing drawings cannot be extended.

A patent is granted, in most cases, within two months after the issue fee is paid.
